In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the NBA 2K League postponed the start of its 2020 season, which had been scheduled to tip-off Tuesday, March 24. During this postponement, Kings Guard Gaming held numerous scrimmages with fellow NBA 2K League teams and participated in various preseason activities, including an eight-game winning streak that earned them the title of the Coast to Coast Champions and the NBA 2K League’s “Three for All” Showdown, which saw Kings Guard Gaming’s Xbox squad advance to the finals and fall short to Blazer5 Gaming in a hard-fought series.

In April, Kings Guard Gaming launched the “Play with the Pros” activation as a part of the Kings organization-wide “In This Together” initiative to support, engage and give back to the community. This series of NBA 2K20 games saw Kings Guard Gaming players take on Stockton Kings players, local social media influencers and fans during live-streamed gameplay every Wednesday and Sunday in April as a way to interact and entertain during this time of social distancing.

This will mark Kings Guard Gaming’s third season in the NBA 2K League, coming off their first postseason appearance in 2019 under the leadership of Head Coach DJ “TTPLOADING” Layton, who has returned to lead the team this season.

On February 22, Kings Guard selected forward Rafel “Crush” Davis, guard Matthew “Bash” Robles and guard Hayden “Nasthetic” Caudle amongst 229 eligible picks in the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft. These rookies will join veteran players Waseem “Seemo” Talbert, Connor “DatBoyShotz” and Yusuf “Yusuf_Scarbz” Abdulla, who was named to the 2019 Intel Performance SZN 2 All-Defensive Team.
