After coming close to making the NBA 2K League last season, Jonathan Roman would not be denied this year.
Formerly known by his gamertag PheNoM___3, the 23-year-old made the cut to the top 250 players in 2018, but was left out of the pool of the final 102 heading into the inaugural draft.
Now, he simply goes by his last name Roman, and he heard that moniker called during the 3rd round of the 2019 2K League Draft.

Kings Guard scooped up the pure lockdown small forward with the first pick of the third round, adding a defensive anchor in the process.
Roman was not in attendance at the Draft and instead spent the day with his family. Though he admitted to being preoccupied with wondering about which team he would end up with, he also said that he “made sure to not stress over it” and to focus on being surrounded by his loved ones.
Family is an important aspect of Jonathan’s life and he praised his mother in particular as his inspiration. She would often be working two jobs just to put food on the table and has been a guiding force in helping her son’s dream come true.
The Philadelphia native is poised to make an immediate impact for Sacramento, noting that his strengths include “being a two way player, energy, versatility, and constant communication.”
During the 2K League Combine in December, the third-rounder shared a glimpse at his efforts with a screenshot of his stats from the month.

Roman is excited to be joining Kings Guard and wants all the fans to know that they won’t be seeing him lack in effort anytime soon.
“Every time I’m wearing that KGG logo, I’m gonna give nothing less than a 100 percent.”
